Jill Curtis, the visionary force driving Larimar Show Stables, brings a wealth of unparalleled expertise dedicated to the holistic development of horses and riders across all skill levels. With an unwavering commitment to safety as the cornerstone, Jill passionately guides individuals toward the realization of their equestrian aspirations.

Originating from Attica, Indiana, Jill's equestrian passion propelled her eastward during her formative years, leading her to pursue education at the University of Connecticut and the University of Virginia. Embarking on her illustrious career, she honed her skills at renowned farms along the east coast, gaining invaluable experience under the mentorship of equestrian luminaries such as Todd Minikus and Nona Garson.

Boasting over fifteen years of extensive experience in the hunter, equitation, and jumper rings, Jill's tireless work ethic and profound love for all things equine became the driving force behind the establishment of Larimar Show Stables in Deep River, Connecticut. This state of the art facility stands as a testament to Jill's unwavering commitment to excellence in both training and horsemanship.

Jill's dedication goes beyond the tangible; Larimar Show Stables, under her stewardship, is more than a training ground. It is a nurturing home where riders and horses flourish, guided by Jill's expertise and passion. Her commitment extends to the development of young horses, ensuring a future generation of equine talent under her mentorship. Larimar Show Stables is not just a destination; it's a thriving community where equestrian dreams find their foundation and flourish.

Key Achievements:

Jill's remarkable career includes notable achievements including riding in prestigious shows, Green Hunter Incentive Finals, National and International Derbies, and Grand Prix competitions at top-tier locations, including WEF, HITS, Old Salem Farm, and more.

In addition to her riding accomplishments, Jill takes pride in training students who have secured ribbons in prominent competitions such as Maclay Finals, NHS, USEF Hunt Seat Medal, USEF Jump Seat Medal, NEHC Finals, and CHJA Finals.

Aldo Huerta

Farm Manager

Also has been with the Larimar team since the inception of our facility in Deep River, Connecticut. Aldo, alongside his wife Ana and their three beautiful children, Satiago, Aldo and Ben, resides on the property, providing a watchful eye on the farm throughout the day. Hailing from Mexico, Aldo was captivated by the picturesque "ranch" and shared the same visionary zeal as head trainer Jill.

Committed to the creation and maintenance of a safe and harmonious environment for both horses and clients, Aldo's passion is palpable. Aldo's invaluable understanding of the property and daily equipment makes him an indispensable asset to both our staff and clients. In essence, the smooth operation of the farm owes much of its success to Aldo, without whom the vision of a thriving and secure space for horses and clients would be incomplete.

Olivia Marlow

Assistant Trainer & Barn Manager

Originally from Portland, CT, Olivia Marlow's equestrian journey took root in the vibrant realms of equitation, hunters, and jumpers under the guidance of Renee Scarpentonio and Jerry O'Keefe at Hunters Runs Stables. A distinguished graduate with honors from Sacred Heart University, Olivia not only excelled academically but also showcased her competitive spirit as a participant in the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association circuit.

Olivia's role extends beyond the arena, as she leverages her expertise as a barn manager, ensuring the seamless operation and top-tier care at Larimar Show Stables. Her fervent dedication to fostering growth and maintaining impeccable standards makes Olivia an instrumental force in the ongoing success of Larimar Show Stables. In her capacity as an assistant trainer and adept barn manager, she embodies the principles of horsemanship and equine education, shaping the environment for both horses and riders to thrive.

Amy Edwards

Assistant Trainer

Amy, one of our dedicated assistant trainer, has roots that intertwine with the equestrian world, stemming from her upbringing in Oldwick, New Jersey. Fondly dubbed "a barn rat," Amy spent her formative years at The Ridge Farm, immersing herself in the world of horses. From the age of 9 to her early 20s, she gleaned invaluable insights under the mentorship of Nona Garson, showcasing her skills in both hunters and jumpers along the east coast. Influential figures such as Amber Harte and Elizabeth Perry played crucial roles in shaping Amy's early riding career.

During her college years, Amy seized the opportunity to be a working student and competitor in the jumpers on the A-circuit, acquiring comprehensive knowledge in preparing both horses and riders for various show rings. Amy's love for teaching spans various levels of riders, where she passionately encourages students to develop effective horsemanship skills both on and off the horse.

Equipped with a Master's degree in education and an advanced degree in educational leadership, Amy brings a wealth of teaching and coaching experience to Larimar Show Stables. In her role as an assistant trainer, Amy seamlessly integrates her diverse passions, leveraging her extensive background to guide Larimar riders and horses towards the realization of their performance goals.

Sigrun Deman-Morano

Assistant Trainer

Meet Sigrun, our enthusiastic Assistant Trainer, whose love for horses and riding ignited when she immigrated to the United States from Germany at the age of eleven. Her journey began with a successful junior career, showcasing her skills in the equitation and hunter divisions, and simultaneously preparing young sale horses for their future endeavors.

As an adult, Sigrun immersed herself in the world of equestrian competition, spending numerous years in the hunter and jumper divisions, while also exploring the realms of dressage and eventing. Hailing from a family of avid fox hunters, Sigrun shares tales of galloping after hounds with The Fairfield County Hounds, often marveling at the cunning foxes outsmarting their canine pursuers.

With an inherent passion for teaching, Sigrun finds joy in working with students and horses of all levels. Having experienced various barns throughout her journey, she is thrilled to be a part of the Larimar team, relishing the opportunity to contribute her expertise to a beautiful facility alongside dedicated and fun-loving individuals. As an integral member of the Larimar team, Sigrun is committed to fostering a positive and enriching environment for both riders and horses alike..

Michaela

IEA Coach & Assistant Trainer

Micaela, a native of Old Lyme, CT, discovered her passion for horses at the young age of five. With a journey that commenced in riding lessons, her love for horses flourished, ultimately leading her to compete in the high level equitation ring.

A graduate of Stonehill College with a Bachelor's Degree, Micaela's equestrian journey continued as she joined the IHSA riding team. Here, in the traditionally individualized realm of equestrian sports, she found a unique opportunity to compete at a team level, broadening her horizons.

When presented with the chance to coach the Larimar IEA team, Micaela eagerly embraced the opportunity to give back to the sport that played a pivotal role in shaping the person she is today. Her wealth of experience and dedication makes her an invaluable asset, inspiring the next generation of equestrians on the Larimar IEA team.
