Larimar Show Stables is a hunter jumper barn in central Connecticut. We offer training, sales, boarding, and lessons to a variety of students at all levels. Our show team travels locally and nationally on the “A” show circuit. We pride ourselves in our success in the ring along with the accomplishments of each of our talented riders. We also value the friendships and bonds we've created along the way and appreciate the "barn family".
Larimar Show Stables is owned and operated by Jill Curtis and she is available for all types of training programs. Raised in Attica, Indiana, Jill traveled east as a teenager to pursue her equestrian education. She attended both the University of Connecticut and the University of Virginia before beginning her career. She has worked at numerous farms up and down the east coast, most notably working for Todd Minikus and Nona Garson.
Jill has 15 plus years of showing experience and teaching in the hunter, equitation, and jumper rings. A strong work ethic and a love of all things equine drove her to build the new facility in Deep River, Connecticut which is currently the home of Larimar Show Stables.
Message from Jill: “I am so extremely grateful to have been blessed with such amazing customers, friends, and family. We moved into our location in Deep River almost 5 years ago now. My business continues to grow and I have so many people to thank for that."
Aldo has been a part of the team since Larimar broke ground in Deep River, Connecticut. He, his wife Ana, and their two beautiful children, Satiago and Aldo, live on the of the property where Aldo can keep a close eye on the farm throughout the day. Moving here from Mexico, Aldo fell in love with this beautiful "ranch" and saw the same vision as head trainer, Jill, did. To create and maintain a safe and harmonious space for the horses to enjoy and for the clients to depend on. Aldo comes in each day with a happy spirit willing to teach + learn. His knowledge of both the property and daily equipment is invaluable to both the staff and clients alike, and truly, the farm couldn't run without him.

Amy grew up in Oldwick, New Jersey where she was “a barn rat", spending as much time as possible at The Ridge Farm, soaking in all things horses. From age 9 to her early 20’s, she learned from Nona Garson, showing in both hunters and jumpers up and down the east coast. Amber Harte and Elizabeth Perry were also influential in Amy’s early riding career. In college, she had the opportunity to be a working student and competitor in the jumpers on the A-circuit, gaining knowledge of preparing both horses and riders for all show rings. Amy loves teaching various levels of riders and encouraging students to develop effective horsemanship skills-on and of the horse. Amy holds a masters degree in education and an advanced degree in educational leadership. She has many years of both teaching and coaching experience. As an assistant trainer, Amy combines all of her passions to help Larimar riders and horses reach their performance goals.
Sarah grew up locally, riding and showing along the east coast. After receiving a degree in Accounting she decided to pursue a career as a professional groom. She spent many years travelling the US circuit learning from many different riders, trainers, and horseman. Most notably Sarah worked for Kent Farrington, who helped provide a deep insight to the five-star level of showing and grooming. After spending a few years travelling the world it was time to come home and make roots in CT.
Sarah came upon Jill and Larimar and quickly recognized the dedication and passion of the team and wanted to be involved. Sarah finds watching new riders fall in love with the sport and more advanced riders achieve goals to be one of the most rewarding parts of being a trainer here at Larimar!
Sigrun's love for horses and riding when she immigrated to the United States from Germany at the age of eleven. She had a successful junior career showing in the equitation and hunter divisions while also prepping young sale horses. As an adult Sigrun spent many years showing in the the hunter and jumper divisions and dabbled in dressage and eventing. She comes from a family of avid fox hunters and spent a lot of time galloping after hounds with The Fairfield County Hounds.... most often watching the foxes outsmart the hounds!
Sigrun has always had a passion for teaching and enjoys working with students + horses of all levels. After having spent time at many different barns she is happy to now be a member of the Larimar team. Working at a beautiful facility with fun and dedicated people.
